Deb (Debbie)'s Story
I was a quiet and shy girl at PA -even though I was in the band and was a Majorette- but while growing older, I've found my voice and my life's passions. I have three great grown childiren and 4 grands! I am on my second chapter of life after a divorce of a 29 yr. marriage back in 2005. Life has a way of shaking your tree! It turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to me! I pointed to a place on a map and started life in a new town where I knew no one; so here I am in Winston Salem, NC these last 11 yrs and loving it! It's a city of arts and education: Wake Forest Univ.
I am now following the dreams I put on hold to raise my children. I am a fiber artist, quilter, and quilt teacher. I started a local guild and it's become a fun and supportive community! I still love camping - (although now I drive a 38ft motorhome!), gardening, wildlife, and my wonderful pets including chickens!
For a couple of years I founded and ran an official non-profit Retired Racing Greyhound Rescue while living in Maryland, where I adopted out 200 greys and that gave me the gift of meeting M...Expand for more
ark at the perfect time. I was the general contractor for my own home: building on a 10 acre farmette. I developed a costume program for the birthplace of Maryland museum at St. Mary's City for seven years. I've done all the Mommy things such as PTA, Room Mom, Talent Shows, Color Guard leader, and given back to the community at large (foster care, Xmas in April, and community activism, etc.) - yes I am proud to be a flaming liberal who believes in equal rights for all the right to better and affordable health care, and better background checks! Go Hillary! please.......omg!
My hobbies, passions, and love of life guide me and I am looking forward to the time when Mark and I can sell the house and hit the road in an RV to see the country - while stopping for a few NASCAR events along the way - never thought I'd say that- but what fun it is to try new things!
It's been a great life so far and I can't wait to see what's around the next bend in the road! Hopefully, I will get up the courage to climb up on Mark's Kaw. Nomad and see things from the back of his bike. Yikes! Maybe not........ :-)
